Whats Wrong?? 1989 dakota sport 3.9
I bought this truck from my dad and its not that bad but I have a few questions. One, it seems to have a power loss when you give all the gas and when you let off it sputters??? Exhaust Maybe??. Two, the vents in the truck blow hard heat and cold until I hit the gas???? I let off the gas and it blows hard again????
Thanks for any help!!!!

It is possible that your truck just needs a tune up. When was the last time your dad did one on the truck? I mean new plugs, rotor, wires, tranny oil and filter, oil change etc..... The answer to your second question may lie here https://dodgeforum.com/m_546492/tm.htm you should look through the FAQ's then do a search for any information pertaining to your problem there is a search button at the top of every page in this forum.
There is a vacuum line that goes through the firewall, actually there are two of them. One is black and one is gray. The gray one comes off the heater control valve. The black one comes off the brake booster. On my truck the black one melted from laying on the valve cover and only my floor vents worked, this is a default mode. Your issue is probably here.
In terms of the hesitation problem, part of the problem could be the vacuum issue. It could be lots of other things too. I had a hesitation on my 90 Dakota Sport. I did a complete tune-up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter). I also put a new fuel pump in. That helped, but ultimately the problem disappeared with a new oxygen sensor and a speed sensor. Run the codes and see what the computer tells you.

I just got an 1989 dakota with 64 thou on it and its doing the exact same thing I did a full tune up plus changed the pick up coil under the rotor plus changed the rotor. But mine starts to sputter when coming to a stop and then dies out. i did change the fuel filter, the pump works its pushing alot of pressure, I was wondering if maybe the fuel pressure regulator but i can't find it on this truck. I also noticed that on a cold start it acts as if its gonna cut out when given a little gas. First time dodge owner need a lil help.
