I have a 93 Dakota 5.2 that had the crank sensor go out. I was driving and the engine cut out and it wouldn't start up again. I tried to get it to start a few weeks later and it would drive without problem. The second time it cut out I took it and got the sensor replaced for only 450$. Quick cheap fix and I haven't had a problem since.

I didn't want to buy one .I was just trying to figure out what the dealer charged to remove and replace two bolts.

Oh yeah thats no joke, dealerships will do anything to mark up the price. Including find other things wrong with your car or truck. A friend (that used to work at one) told me that the mechanics in the dealership get a commission off of any additional problems they find while doing oil changes and routine maintenance. I guess its good that they are trying to look out for you like that, but on the same token you cant tell me that a money hungry jerk wouldnt say that something is going out and then get the commission and probably not replace the part.
