Hey everyone, first post. How ya doin'?

My question is regarding fuel tank capacity. The floater in the tank is screwed up so the gas gauge is unreliable, and I just bought my truck a few weeks back.

The manual for my 1995 Dakota V6 4x4 says this vehicle came with either a 15 or 22 gallon tank. There's also a fuel system chart under the hood that states "For 32 gallon tank only." Needless to say, 3 different numbers is kind of confusing.

Does anyone know of a way to find out MY gas tank capacity without having to run the tank empty while carrying a 3 or 4 gallon fuel tank around in the back of my truck?

I think the chart is generic. As far as I know only vans came with 32 gallon tanks. 15s are flat on the front and 22 extend forward with the lower half of the tank.

 

You might be able to find out by crawling under the truck and looking at the bottomor side of the tank. The capacity might be stamped into the tank along with some other numbers but might not be real obvious. Also might try calling a Dodge dealer and have them run your VIN #.

 

idk what to say expect that it is not stamped on the bottom of the tank, or at least it is not stamped on my tank anywhere that i can see by crawling under the truck, but just go to dodge with the vin and theyll email you what came on your truck from the factory, they did it for me and it only took like a week if i can find the link ill post it here for you
