Default V8 conversion, carburetor, no EFI

So what do you do with the computer once you have a v8 installed and are using a standard or performance electronic ignition? This would be in the early years, either an 87 or 88-91 when it was still throttle body. Working on getting an 87, but it still has a computer of sorts...

well, if your putting in a carb engine in to a TB truck. you wont need the computer, you will need an ECM (I think thats what its called),

I'm having a brain fart so when I think of the other stuff I'll get back to ya

I'm putting a carb 318 in my 88 in the summer. I have a whole partscar that it's comming out of, so I already have all the electronics I need.

I had a K car that ran the battery charging thru the computer, what an expensivePITA that was to swap out, just for the charging! For a dakota, tho, I would just wire in the old fashioned electronic voltage regulator....
Mostly, I am wondering what I will have to do to keep the ECM from causing problems, or if the functions it serves can by bypassing and/or modifying.
