Default Increase in performance

I was changing oil in the truck this weekend and was checking everything out to make sure there was nothing else going on with the truck and I inspected the air filter and it was clean and also checked out the air intake tube and saw a plastic plate that was mounted in front of the tube. I started thinking about that and decided that it was a pretty poor idea except to keep additional debris from flying into the air cleaner. 200 miles later and the filter did have a few bugs, and sand pebbles in it but nothing built up and destructive. I easily knocked everything out by tapping the end of the filter. I am also now getting 21 MPG where I was only getting 15 mpg. In addition I just dumped some fuel system cleaner into the tank and that has taken care of the rough idle I had.
