after seeing someone's thread on installing a 10" subwoofer in the jack storage compartment, i decided i'd install my 2 10" polk audio 10" subs in a similar way.

my subs have a deep depth, so i couldn't make them symmetrical, or else it'd be sticking up about 2", so i opted for a staggered look.


i still have access to use my passenger rear seat with no problem. still trying to think of a plan so i can use other side- but no rush for that, i've used my back seat once in 4 months.

Nice. Im gonna cut my amp down into the lid, so when my woofer hits and pumps air out of the cubby it will cool off my amp.

eehhh, it's hard to tell. it definitely needs to be ported (IMHO) but i'm not sure yet which route i'll go. i would've mounted my amp in the cubby, but there's no room.


the bass hits so hard that i needed to screw the cubby lid down to stop rattling.

but they do hit harder than my 1 12", that's for sure. but i can't put them to full use because my walmart brand 6x9's that came with the truck distort at volume 32 out of 62, and i usually listen to it at 40ish.

but overall, i'm real happy with the outcome

 

Yeah I thought about trying to seal it back up and opted not to. Im not really into the window rattling bass, I just want to make my speakers clean and the bass still good to listen to. It works great for what I want from it. And I still get to utilize one of my storage areas.

Looks good! My suggestion as for the amp, is to mount it under one of the front seats. Just remove the seat to mount it and hide the wires under the carpet. That is what I did and it came out sweet.

 

i will possibly do that once i get new speakers for the rear to replace these **** "road master" ones from the previous owner, do a quick tune, then re-route my wires and mount amp under seat. and i can shampoo the carpets as well but for now, this will work perfect. i'm quite happy with the outcome!

 

Looks nice. I have two 12" rockford fosgates in mine and I should have mount them like yours looks nice.

 

my 10's were a VERY tight fit, i dont see many 12" woofers being able to fit, unless they're shallow mount ones.

 

a 12 wouldnt work like this. Even if it was a shallow mount speaker the tops of the lids would have to be cut in half. I intentially made it so that none of the sides of the lid were cut, that would weaken it a great deal, and at very least force it to be screwed down.

You could possibly use the front of the enclosure and build a wooden "lid" for it as shown in my previous post by crazy. But there is a good chance that you would lose the functionality of your seats because the way the floor is molded would most likely interefere with the magnet.
