Default 92 Dakota wont shift

I have a 92 Dakota that has great reverse but when you put it into drive it stays in a higher gear. It won't upshift and it wont downshift. It has no manual 2nd or 1st. Please help me i get about 5 to 10 miles to a gallon of gas. Please help me

Sounds like your long overdue a transmission rebuild. The longer you drive it in bad condition the most likely you start wearing out parts that are non replaceable and trash the whole transmission.

I was afraid of that. About how much does a tranny rebuild cost?

It all depends on where you go and if you pull it out your self. $1,000 - $2,000.

would it be cheaper to get a tranny and just replace it
