Default Engine

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I purchased 93 Dakota truck LE. From all the info I see, I'm thinking that this be a different engine than the original. This has a Holley Carburetor, and from I've read they stopped those in '88. It's a 6 cyl, but not in-line. Did they put any engines like that at all in 93's. The door sticker says it was made 1-93.
Thanks,
Jim

6 cylinders are 3.9s.You're right though,it should have a throttle body NOT carburetor. You could still have the 3.9 but will be an older engine.

Okay, you'll see I'm not a mechanic...lol. What's the difference? When I take off the air filter there is two open holes that look like a carburetor and it says Holley. Thanks

From factory it is a Holley Throttle body. I'm sure your engine is correct to the truck.

A Throttle body just feeds the engine with the incoming AIR.
A Carberator feeds the engine with FUEL and AIR.
