my 99 d has started to squeal sounds like it is coming from the rear end it only does it when you got your foot on the gas take it off it stops, any one think it might be a ujoint on the way out thats what i'm hoping and not a pinion bearing but would'nt a pinion bearing squeal all the time there is no banging while shifting reverse/drive. any one ever have this problem with there d?

 

Know for pinion bearings to go. It will only get worse if thats the case. My Dak has the pinion bearing go out in it. Its a pain but look on the bright side, while you got it apart put in a posi...

 

thats what i'm afraid it is to the pinion bearing, because there is no play in the ujoints but they are original 142,000 miles
