i had just bought a 99 durango about 4 months ago i love the car but it makes a noise every time i switch to D to R for some odd reason any help would be great

 

We would have to know more information. Like what kind of noise, where does it sound like its comming from, does the vehical do anything else weird when this sounds happens, what kind of gas milage are you getting, have you checked the trany fluid levels, etc, etc.

It could be as bad as a trany going out, or as good as a loose bolt.

Is your D a 4x4? If so, does it have the full time transfer case? If so, the noises you are hearing when you put it in reverse or sometimes in Drive, is the transfer case making the clanging sound. Dealer says this is normal and I used to have a 85 Toyota that does this clang noise also when my toy is engaged in 4WD mode.
