Check Engine Light
I own a 1999 Durango with a 318 engine. The check engine light comes on and the code reads #1 fuel injector electrical failure, #2 fuel Injector electrical failure, and continues through all 8 cylinders. Sometimes on startup the light goes out but comes back on after a while. Car runs ok on low speeds but at high speeds under loads like hills trans shifts in and out of overdrive and engine backfires. Took it to a dealer he said that he thought that it was a relay and replaced it and reset the light. It worked ok for several days until I took a long trip and it started up again. The dealer dosen't know whats causing the problem and before I let them play swap the part until something works I thaught that someone out there might have an idea.
Hi Wayneo,
My father-inlaw had a similar problem with his 99Dakota(318). He changed the plugs and wires and reset the light by disconnecting the pos. lead to the battery. He hasn't had any problems since. Might be worth a try.
