1999 Durango hesitation
I have searched through the forums for similar problems but havent really found anything. My Durango at times when you start it up and take of after a minute or so will start to hesitate and buck around. If you mash the pedal all the down it will pick up and go and run fine. If you stop somewhere for about 20 minutes or so and take off again same thing. But not always will it do it but it is getting worse. I have done the complete tune up, replaced fuel pump and most of the obvious stuff, but with no luck in fixing the issue. No codes are stored and the mileage is about 18 hwy and 14 city. Any thoughts or suggestoins would be greatly appreciatted as my wife is giving me fits about this.

i have exactly the same problem. After it happens, then it smooths out for the rest of the trip. I have changed the TPS and the IAC. Running Champion plugs so I checked the gap but still no solutions. If you figure it out please post it. Im wondering about the coil possibly. When it begins to stumble does it also sound as if the throttle body is sucking in alot of air? Like its not getting enough fuel for that brief time?

Ok I have found out what the problem is, but dont understand how to fix it. Its vapor locking on me. I got it to act up sitting at an idle and when it starts to surge and hesitate if i shoot some carb cleaner in it it smooths right out which means its leaning out. So now the question is this , why would it vapor lock with a brand new fuel pump? I also discovered that there is no return line to the tank from the fuel rail. So when the vapor finds it way to the right side injectors thats when its hesitates and surges. So why doesnt Dodge run a return line back to tank to circulate fuel to prevent this and how could it be fixed?

I think before you finalize on "Vapor Lock" you should put a pressure gauge on the fuel line.
I'm betting yout "New" pump is crap and/or your filter is having issues.
Put a gauge on there and watch it, I'm betting when the problem occurs your fuel pressure is dropping off.

What brand pump did you put in. If its an aftermarket, Master/Airtex. I would bet your labor that the pump is the culprit. Ive come to the point where i refuse to sell these brands anymore because of the quality issues. FYI you can usually find a Mopar pump within 50 bucks of a crap aftermarket one.
