you can't just plug an HID bulb in, to light an HID it needs a pre-arc voltage of over 20Kv, then it sustains the arc with around 30-40V

so yes i did get the Ballast, its a full convserion kit needed to retrofit an HID bulb (base size 9007) into a standard halogen system

I just plugged mine in but they sucked without the conversion so I pulled them and put in SSU's

then you didn't have true HID bulbs, true HID bulbs use a different wiring setup then a stock bulb, my stock bulb plug acts as the power for the ballast but the ballast is what outputs the right power levels to the bulb

I love to go with a HID system but I also use my high beams when needed and I hear with HID systems, it does not have the high/low combos.

I am satisfied with my SS system. I am curious how much better the SSU's are over the original SS's?

you can still go to HID, this setup is only temp, look into the bi-xenon HID setups, they have both low/high functions but they are a lil pricey ($600+), i plan on getting a set ASAP

as will all halogens, they all end up being the exact same after about a month or 2

SUCKS. Sorry.

The glare you see simply in the picture is just that half of the problem on coming drivers will have with it. Lets hope one isn't blinded and drives off the road hurting someone or right into you hurting you or someone you have with you.

HIDs, while sold all the time and embraced by Ricers, simply don't function properly without the lense to aim them. Simply putting them in stocker covers doesn't cut it.

Sucks. Again, sorry. Not a fan at all.

actaully indy i had a friend drive in front on me, and he had no problems at all

the HID cutoff line is actaully 1/4" below that of the halogens (measured at 6ft), so they actaully put out less glare then halogens, and the glare is from my camera being a POS
