1998 durango stalls
My wifes Durango has developed a stalling problem.
It had been stalling only at stops on occassion, but this morning it stalled while driving down the road. Most of the time it starts up again. But when it doesn't, it will turn over strong, it just won't start. If it doesn't start after a few tries, I have shifted it into rev., then back to park, and it starts first try. I have had this happen three times now. I've checked all the fuses, relays, and connections. When I turn the key the fuel pump cycles, I checked the injection rail for fuel pressure and it appears fine. I do not know what direction to go from here. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

This could be a problem with the PCM or the CTM. Read the post bcm,pcm or atm.
I would take your D to a dealer or even better a trusted auto repair shop and have a diagnostic check done. Let us know how it goes.

I too have this problem with my 99 Durango, we did the crankshaft sensor, did not work, did the ctm/bcm, did not work, I am demanding a new pcm, as this is covered under warranty 8/80, is what Dodge told me. I suggest you have the pcm done by someone you know or trust, from my experience Dodge dealers really don't know what causes this and they will have you replace everything that is not under warranty before doing the one part that is, and more than likely that is causing the problem..If you do go through Dodge, speak to them yourself, don't have your wife do it, they do not like dealing with women. Or at least that is what I have learned. Good luck.
I replaced the ignition coil and so far everything seems to be running good. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for now, though. This is a great site.
Thanks everbody for the suggestions.
