Default Doors automatically lock after going 10mph

After I get to about 10mph or so, the bloody doors lock by themselves. Can I shut this off or does this have to goto the dealer?

Yes you can turn this feature off. It's in your trucks manual. Or if you're too lazy to do it yourself, the dealership will do it for you.

I have a problem with my locks. I have tried to turn the option back on so they automatically lock after 15MPH, but the directions don't seem to work. I mean I hear the chime and everything just like the book says, but they never lock automatically after going 15PMPH. Any ideas why they may not be working? Thank you.

Cool. Page 10 of the 2000 D. Manual. No more automagic door locking. woo HOO!

1) Close doors
2) Turn key to "on" position w/o starting engine
3) Turn key to "off" position
4)Do this 4 times and, on the 4th time leave the key in the "on" position
5) Press the drivers side door lock button within 30 seconds of step 4
6)Drive around the block going faster than 15mph
7) Giggle like a school girl at the lunacy of that procedure

To answer question as why I want to turn this off. Well, first off, it should be up to the driver and/or passengers to decide if the doors should be locked - not the car. And second, well, "old dog and new tricks". In the couple of months that I've owned this vehicle I've not got used the fact of the doors all locking and am constantly getting out of the car and getting denied when opening the rear door. The wife don't like it, the kids don't like it and non-auto-door-lock-imprinted passengers are yanking on the door handles in vain.

And as far as a safety feature...bah...I'd rather the doors be unlocked so there's less confusion when I've driven it into a lake (I'll try not to) or the thing is on fire (hope it doesn't)

As to why the trbmbennet's can't be changed the other way...beats me...try doing "unlock" when doing this and see if that works.
