Default Clicking Noise and Jutter WHen Wheel is Cut all the way

I have a 2000 Durango with 51,000 miles. I just noticed tonight when I make a hard left or right turn witth the wheel cut all the way, I hear a clicking noise. Also I tend to feel a jutter in the steering wheel. It happens at very low speeds in both foward and reverse. My durango has all wheel drive. It seems to make the noise in 4lo and 4 lo lock as wheel as normal 4wd. It doesn't make the noises while driving straight. Any Ideas would be greatly appreiciated. I bought the truck with my own hard earned money last october. I am 18 years old and most of my money goes towards the truck. Hopefully its not a major problem. Thank you

Could be the tires.

Could be stuck in 4x4 hi instead of the standard 4x4. You would know in slow turns and in turns when backing up. The feel will definately be different from your standard 4x4 setting.

Could be the diffs <--- my guess at the problem.

I'd suggest a service on the front and rear diff . Probably hasn't ever been done. Replace the fluids with Mobil1 75W90 and on the front and rear, use the $9 bottle of limited slip friction modifier from the dealer. Service the diffs every 24-36,000 miles. Ask the service center if there was any material in there when they drained out the old fluids.

HTH,

IndyDurango <--- wishes his 2000 D only had 51,000 miles on it. I have 178,000+ Yikes! Still wicked fast however!! [8D]

My subaru was AWD and I got that clicking when cranked all the way. The CV joints were bad. Not to sure if the Dingo is the same.

I would look at the Front joints myself as well. I've felt the same thing on a solid front axle bronco when I busted the u-joints out. Would click in 4x4 and jerk when the joint caught, and only when the wheel was turned all the way.
