RE: COOLANT LEAK VS HEATER CORE
You have to tear down the steering column and totally remove the dash to get to the heater core. It will be an all day job.

Do you have to discharge the system when replacing the core? I'm just about to jump into my DIY on this.

I do not recall. I think the A/C side stay intact and do not need removal.
