Default Blinking Rear Defroster Light

Greetings from a new forum member.

Last week my 2001 Durango wouldn't start and displayed "No Bus" in the odometer display. My dealer replaced the PCM (under emissions warranty), and the truck starts and runs fine now except the rear-window defroster button light is continuously blinking on and off. Also, the AC switch does not work. If I turn the HVAC control to defrost, the AC compressor kicks in, but I can't use the AC switch to turn on the compressor in other HVAC modes.

The service manager didn't have a clue (it was late in the day and all his 'technicians' had gone home), but he said he remembered old-generation Voyager minivans doing the same thing when their HVAC needed to be "recalibrated".

Anyone have an idea what's causing the rear defroster button to blink on and off, and making my AC switch inoperative?

Thank You!

I'm having the same problem with the blinking rear defroster light. Did you ever find a solution?

Talk about bringing something up from the dead.....

Try to reset the PCM.

Nope. Instead let's fix it!

The blinking on the rear defrost light is on purpose telling you indeed as suggested in the first post that the HVAC Door Recalibration program needs to be ran.

Now that you know the problem, go to the dealer and tell them specifically what you want done. Saves you time & money without them scratching thier heads lost and aimlessly trying to solve your problem. You know exactly what is going on now and can tell them what to fix.

HTH!

I have the same issue with my Durango. I brought it to my friend, a diagnostic tech at the local Chrysler dealership and he performed both the cooldown test and door actuator test and the rear defrost light is still flashing. Any more ideas?

A little history on the vehicle: 01 Durango
Had an unrelated electrical problem that I had swapped PCM's in the process of fixing. The original PCM is back in the vehicle and the problem still exists, even after the door calibration and the cool down test were performed.

Unfortunately not. I had the recalibration done at the dealership and it still blinks. It also doesn't blow very well on the floor.

None of this was a problem, prior to swapping PCM's. The HVAC system worked great! I tried recalibrating with both the new PCM and the old one. Still blinking.
