P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak)

Did you leave the gas cap off??? Other than that change the gas cap and reset the code, If it comes back start looking over your fuel lines from tank to engine and replace as necessary.

Weird, my mom's 2001 Durango just threw this code today...

How do I reset the codes? Unplug negative for a little while, or what?

OK! I have an '01 Durango that has the P0455--a "gross" (big) leak in the Evaporative Emission Control System--gas cap obviously didn't work since we tried that and engine light came back on and code changed to the "gross" leak. So now do we replace the hoses and clamps and see or go for the whole system? Does anyone have pictures of the parts?

Check the emissions canister underneath by the transfer case. You will find two hoses that attach there and lead to two hard plastic hoses that run aong the frame.

You can get them from the dealer for $40, or make them yourself from short heater bypass hoses at AZ for $20.

Check the vaccuum lines leading to the evap canister. They may be cracked and/or leaking.

How can you reset codes besides unhooking the battery?
