I asked the same question not to long ago. The answer everyone basicly gave me was the RT came with a higher program in the computer. They said the engine is the same.Exept for the 2000RT it came with different heads. I dontknow what is diffent about them. Some said the exhast is more free flowing. Check out the post Durango RT?right now its on page3 of thisforum. One thingI think is theIntake is different. I belive in my old enginetheIntake manifold was a splitrunner. I belive thats what its called. The new one I got is from a 2000 RT and the Intake is Openno slit runner. I could be wrong. If Anyone knows Im wrong feel free to correct me.

Also these difference from factory.

R/T comes with full time awd. regular durango, this is a option.
R/T comes with stiffer sports suspension. regular durango no, or could be a option
two tone suede/leather combo seats. regular durango only has standard leather.
R/T comes with 17 inch rims. regular durango only get up to 16 inches.

I think the closest match up on the Durangos would be a R/T vs SLT+. Both of these are pretty much identical in features except for the slightly better tuned 5.9 and exhaust and two tone suede/leather and suspension.

ORIGINAL: Crazy4x4RT

Exept for the 2000RT it came with different heads.
Nope. Same heads, same intake too. "R/T" Heads are not on the Durango R/T

Indy I'm pretty sure the earlier years did have different heads. They did change it though and as far as the engine was concerned the later models had the same thing any other 5.9 had other than a more aggressive PCM tune.

And:

Don't leave out the limited slip (or Anti Spin if you prefer) rear end along with the 3.92 gearing was standard on the R/T.

MG,

Nope. Never a 'special HiPerf head' on the Durango. No R/T heads, etc outside of something extra the Shelby Durango's in '99.

Had a '99 SLT+ a few years back that had the leather/suede mix.
