How do you check to see if your IACV is bad?
I have a 99 dodge durango with a 5.2l engine and sometimes it will start but die then not start after that. It will start if I press the gas and run but as soon as I depress the gas it dies. I checked the fuel pressure and it was good. It is throwing a CEL for number 4 and 5 fuel injectors. I checked the with a noid light and the harness is fine. I put some injector cleaner in and the car ran fine for about a month and now it is doing it again. I think it might be the IACV but I'm not sure. I looked and couldn't find it on the truck but I know it has one. I was wondering if anybody knew how to check the valve to see if it was bad or not.
Thanks.
Thanks.
it is on the back of the throttle body underneath the air hat, and it is very hard to tell if it is bad, but it gets stiff (to push/pull in/out) as it goes bad, i would just pull it and replace it, if thats not an option pull it out, clean it up w/ some t/b cleaner (make sure to work it into the valve body as well by moving the head in and out), and then put it back in, to start it up the first time you will need to be on the gas, and then it should reposition itself and be fixed GL and let us know h ow it goes
I would yank the TB off and clean it that way, there can be some gunk buildup in the IAC area that can be missed by just yanking the IAC off with the TB left on... also IIRC, there is a very small air passage that can also get clogged. make sure it's clean too.
