Default automatic shifter

Hey Guys, I was at the local auto store today and I saw a automatic shifter made by B&M, and I was wondering what this does. It it some way of making your auto tranny perform better or is it just for looks? this is the one they had. http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id...at=1&pid=9

there's a few dakota & ram guys who have ditched the column shift& gone with a floor shifter like that. the ratchet style ones like that allow you to manually shift gears 1,2, D by slapping the shifter forward, without worrying about missing a gear. I think P, R, and N function normally, but to get R you pull up on that extra little handle on the shifter, it's locked out so you don't slap it forward in the heat of a race and blow your tranny apart by hitting R.

from what i understand we need the one that fits a 727 trans, andit involves cutting holes in the floorboard.
