Default 2002 Dodge Durango first mods

Buying a used 2002 Dodge Durango SLT 5.9L with nothing but a lift kit on it and 36000 miles. Any ideas for a newbie modder with $2000 budget? Looking for power.

Much thanks,
Munch Munch.

Which way do you want to go? Bolt ons with minimal labor and skillor internals that are a little more labor intensive and require moremechanical competency? For the bolt ons do a search in the 1st gen section and take a look at my sig. The real power adders would be an aftermarket cam, higher performance injectors, or just turn that sucker into a stroker (408 is the most common but I have heard something about a kit that you can get 420 some odd cu in of displacement). Getiing into the tranny you can go for a performance shift kit andvalve body. Then a regear will get you up to speed a lot easier.

I'm personally hoping to get into the internals (cam first)soon here when I get out of my apartment and into a house next month. Good luck on your power addingendeavor and welcome to the forums.

If you plan to seriously bump up the performance on your D, I would recommend you start at the tranny first. Re-enforce it and prep it to handle alot of power first before seriously upgrading the motor. Dodge trannys aren't the strongest and may be the first to go if you seriously build up the motor first.
