I assume the dodge has a factory alarm when i lock my doors the security light comes on. what i need to know
is this just incase someone tries to steal the truck or does it sound when the windows are broken or the vehicle is messed with.etc..?

also i have no key fob...any info would be appriciated

Hard to say if your D has an alarm or not. Depending on what model D you have and what options the Dealer installed on it. You can problaby run your VIN with your dealer to see if it had an alarm system factory installed or not. That would be my first step.

Your other question concerning the alarm going off? It only goes off if someone tries to open the door, I do not think it will go off if the glass is broken, at least not on the regular OEM security. I think there was an option to upgrade the security to have that ability to detect glass breakage as well. But all this will be answered once your dealer checks your VIN to see what it has.

 

the key fob isn't necessary for the alarm....locking the doors by using the power locks on the driver door, then closing the door will activate the alarm. And you can disarm the alarm by locking and unlocking the driver door with the key.

try the alram out.....lock the doors but leave the window open, and reach into the window to unlock the door.....it will alarm as soon as handle on the door is lifted.

I'm pretty sure the ignition will set off the alarm too.....if you leave the windows open with the doors locked, climb through the window and try to start up.....I don't know how i figured that one out, but I'm pretty sure I can take a guess
