Default Amperes

does anyone know how many amperes the stock alternator puts out on a 5.9 L 2000 durango?
im thinking of upgrading for my 2400 watt system and adding a new battery? anyone have any sugestions?

117 or 136. Should be stamped into the rear cover, engraved in the housingor printed on alabel.

ok nice, does anyone know any good car audio altenater that makes a tone of amperes?

Just because the system has a 2400 watt max output does not mean you're going ot be using 2400 watt-hours. Probably 1/3 of that if you average it out, which will onlyneed ~60 amps. The rest of the vehicle sytems aren't goingto consume enough of the remaining ~65 amps (if you're using the bigger alternator) to actually run down the battery.Use a capacitor so you don'tdim the lights and such every time the subs kick, and you'll be fine.

I have installed a similar system in size, I'm running 2) 1 farad caps 4 amps and 2 optima batteries with thestock altenator, very little if any light dimming 128.6 db.
