does anyone know how many amperes the stock alternator puts out on a 5.9 L 2000 durango?
im thinking of upgrading for my 2400 watt system and adding a new battery? anyone have any sugestions?
Just because the system has a 2400 watt max output does not mean you're going ot be using 2400 watt-hours. Probably 1/3 of that if you average it out, which will onlyneed ~60 amps. The rest of the vehicle sytems aren't goingto consume enough of the remaining ~65 amps (if you're using the bigger alternator) to actually run down the battery.Use a capacitor so you don'tdim the lights and such every time the subs kick, and you'll be fine.
I have installed a similar system in size, I'm running 2) 1 farad caps 4 amps and 2 optima batteries with thestock altenator, very little if any light dimming 128.6 db.
