2001 Durango R/T 5.9
The handhelds are more convenient because you can "unload" the flash if you need to go in for warranty service or if you sell the vehicle. As far as I can tell from reading threads online the Hypertech & Superchips are pretty much neck and neck. If you want absolute maximum horsepower and options, then you need to send your PCM to B&G Chrysler in Michigan (48 hour turnaround) - www.bgchrysler.com.
Hypertech III has a big price different over superchip programmer. Truckaddons.com has it on sale for $288 for the Hypertech III. I paid $299 for it a few months ago from the same site. I think the hypertech III will eventually be phased out as they have their newMax Energyprogrammer now from hypertech.
The Max Energy programmer is available for the Durango's with the 4.7's. Hypertech III programmers were made only for the 5.2/5.9 family.
