Default So long My friends!

Well, it happened. Some of you may know but I'v been looking for a bigger SUV for a while to pull my camper and all. I found a 2000 ford Excursion 7.3 diesel with only 20K miles. I had to jump on it. The truck is cherry!

I just wanted to say thanks to all you guys for the help you've offered on my D. I really did hate to see it go. The Excursion is great, but not near as sporty ,if you will, as the Durango.I'll still pop in from time to time though. This group of guys is great! I have yet to find an Excursion forum with this much activity. That will be sorely missed. One thing I won't miss is the gas mileage. I averaged right at 20 MPG on the way home in the Ford. It was 4 hours away, but the D wouldn't see that on the back of a flat bed!

I thought the D was a great vehicle through the 8 years I had it. 133K and never a major problem. Tranny never even gave me any issues, which is rare. But there was no dodge that could fit our needs.

Thanks again for all the help Guys,
Phil

Impressive Truck with low mi for a great price! THat thing has every option it seems.Sometimes depreciation in value works out for the best. What would that run for brand new? $60,000?

No, they were about $45,000 and you could talk them WAY down if you actually wanted one.

Good looking truck you got. Good luck!

Good thing it's adiesel, because the 6.8's are about 10/13 cty/hwy. And keep up on tranny maintenance. That 4R100 is not exactly the finest piece of engineering.

For good measure, change the glow plugs at 100K intervals. They'll work longer, butthe tips swell and will break off in the cylinder during removal. Very bad. GP change is about a 2-4 hour project, depending on skill and tools.

Good luck with your new Ferd! (you're gonna need it[sm=smarty.gif])
