just picked up my new rig tonight. kinda new to the durango seen. its a 99 5.9L. can u pull codes without a scanner? how do you reset the check engine light? runs and drives great. but i wanna figure out this check engine buisiness asap.

99 and eailer needs a scanner 2000 + 3 key cycles im pretty shure just pull the battery terminal. but dont you want to know what code(s) are showing up?

 

To reset the codes, pull the neg battery terminal and then turn the key to START for a few seconds. Turn off/remove the key then reconnect the battery.

99's need to use a scanner. Autozone will usually scan vehicles for free.

Just FYI,

Walmart sells a code scanner for domestic vehicles for under $99

also, if you buy a hypertech programmer, it can also scan codes and reset the errors as well.
