it may be that your tranny needs a little adjustment, it may just mean that you need a tuneup. We need a lil more info about recent history with teh vehicle, and maintenance. What kinda mileage you have. basically just write us a short story about your Durango.

Ghog, I recently had the same problem on mine. Same engine in mine. It was a vacuum line that had become disconnected (check engine light did not come on). Check those lines and make sure one did not come disconnected.

Hi guys,

Just a case study:
I had similar issues(2003, 4.7 liter). I seafoamed her (very cool smoke) and settled the idle out a bit 600ish rpms. I cleaned the TB, TBI and IAC. Dirty, but negligable effect. Then I replaced the original plugs with the factory Champion copper plugs (RC12MCC4, gapped @ 0.040). The plugs coming out were VERY clean, but the electrodes were very worn, gapping @ 0.075.
Result:
Smooth as silk idle @ 850 rpm's.[sm=yeahsmile.gif]
Hope this helps...

Earl
