Injector Circuit Malfunction 2001 durango 4.7
I was driving the other day all day fine but on my way home on the freway all of a sudden it started to run real rough like the timing was wrong then the check engine light came on I pulled off the freeway and had it towed home I got the codes read and there was three codes p0203 p0205 p0206 an Injector Circuit Malfunction I thought it was odd that they would all have the same problem at the same time since it had no issues leading up to the problem any help would be appreciated I have spent hous online looking for help.........thanks steve
Steve,
I am having the same problem with a code of p0201 and p0205. I posted the same question the other day and someone responded that I needed to replace the injectors that the codes were referring to. I was curious if you have driven yours since you had it towed. Mine is very intermittent. I can drive it 30 miles with no problem then I will stop somewhere and when I start up again I have the same problem of it running rough. I found some where else on line a person with a similar problem. His mechanic could not find anything wrong with it and told him to drive it until it died and then maybe they could find the problem. He continued to drive it until it finally quit running. They looked at and found out it was the PCM. My Durango is not my daily driving car so I am waiting to see what to do next. I am at the point where I may try to replace the injectors. Please keep me posted on anything you find out and I will do the same.
Good luck!
Kirk

after it was towed I backed it in to my parking spot still running realy rough then when I used the scan tool to read the codes it would not start sounds like it wants to start but the timings off...if you have a link to the pcm thread I would be interested in reading that.....Steve

Steve,
Have you found the problem yet? Sorry I didn't back with you sooner, but my Durango is not a daily driver and I put it on the back burner until I had time to start looking for the thread I had found on this. Here is another forum that suggest it to be the TPS
http://www.dakota-durango.com/forum/...ad.php?t=35732
I am still looking for the info I found previously suggesting it is the computer.
Let me know if you found anything else.
Thanks,
Kirk

Well i dont know what or how that post was concieved but to test the PCM's control of the injector, youve got to install an injector test light into each injector elec. connector one at a time. Do this while you test the injectors, have them all unplugged. Crank over the engine, confirm that the light flashes evenly at each connector if the light does not flash going to have to have dealer check out the pcm. while at it test the resistance in the injectors, all being close to same ohms.
Sometimes local auto stores have the light testers availible, but this is an example of what it looks like. http://www.amazon.com/Wilmar-Fuel-In.../dp/B0002KO43M
** Also known as a Noid light

hey i just had this issue .. with a rough idle, the lurch when trying to go higher speeds and threw a check engine light of p0203 and thats it (injector circuit malfunction for cylinder 3) first thing i did was bought a multimeter. at the same time coincidently i replaced my nasty air filter and the check engine light went away by itself without me having to reset it myself (i may be remembering that wrong, it was a little ways back. and im pretty sure it wouldnt go away by itself anyhow) it came back today. i tested the PCU at the TPS connector (pins 1 and 3) and that was fine so its not the PCU. and i just replaced the TPS and its running fine now, i'll keep the forum posted if the state of my durango changes. oh yeah btw, 03 durango slt 4.7L 4x4
