buying a durango what should i look for
The message was for Brymac, I apologize for not labeling it. But Yes, I am recommending with that kind of mileage to get a good professional inspection.
+1 with all the recommendations by all the users here. Plus I would recommend you to purchase the minimum year model 2001. Starting 2001, the Durango underwent an interior makeover. We call this 2nd generation interior. The exterior of the Durango has not changed except for the badging. I also think starting 2001, they did away with the manual 4WD shift lever on the floor and went 100% electonic and you should see a drive mode selector on the dash. Also another major change to 2nd gen interior is the location of the overhead A/C. The vents are now on the side and can supply both cold or hot air. They relocated the vents to make room for the optional overhead DVD entertainment console.
The only little thing about the 2001 to 2003 models is the fan blower resistor pack blowing out. (fan only has high speed). This is a easy $11-$20 fix and heard that they had redesigned the resistor pack so it should last.
If you are not planning on towing or playing offroad, go for the 2WD and 4.7 engine for max fuel mileage. Otherwise, we all recommend you to go with the 4WD and 5.9 for the outdoor fun people.
