Default lock up torque conv. on-off switch?

Hey everyone!
I have a general question, but wasn’t sure where to post it properly.
I recently acquired a amethyst 1998 Durango 4x4 with a 380HP MP long block for my girlfriend. The truck absolutely screams!
(Many other engine/computer mods)

My question is can you put a switch on the transmission to control the lock up torque converter?

A friend of mine did this with a cheeve turbo 400, is it possible to do this to any electronic controlled transmission?

My reason for asking is the lock up happens too soon. The trans. has never been rebuilt and has 202,000 miles on it. (No kidding!) It shifts great, but locks up very early in high gear. I am afraid of this hurting the trans. over time.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Great deal that the trans has 202k on her. With that many on the ticker im not sure i'd recomend anything seeing how it was never rebuilt. Maybe someone will chrime in soon concerning it but with the added hp and extra 202k miles i'd be worried about adjustments. I like to stay far far far away from transmissions. But if was me i'd save my money into a Martin Saine transmission for the increased horsepower and durability. Costs cheaper to get one from him compared to having the tranny fixed, can easily hold hp too.

Thanks for the response,
I'm more concerned with how I'm going to have the next trans set up than getting more milage out of this one.
My buddy put a switch on his 94' SS454(Super Slow) cheevy's torque conv. It was the nicest feature on that truck, drive in town or pulling a trailer without the converter locking up.

I haven't spoken to him in 5-6 years, and have completely lost track of him... It is a shame.

I do have a couple of transmissions on hand to have built, I'm just trying to getmy ducks in a line befor having someone perform the rebuild.

I think any positive input is good input, so,Thanks again!
