Default A/C Clutch - Serpentine Belt Problem

1999 Durango 5.2L. The A/C clutch seized up while the wife was on the way to work. Rather than change the compressor in the parking lot, I purchased a serpentine belt for a 5.2L W/O A/C. The belt routing diagram shows that this belt should fit if you bypass the A/C pully. When I attempted to put the belt on, I came up about 3/4" to 1" short of getting it on. I had the belt tensioner cranked as far as I could pull it. I am missing something? Shouldn't this work. I did confirm that I had the correct belt. Any tricks of the trade?

HELP ME MAN!!

WOW!

I would have thought it would work. The tensioner might be different as well as other pulley's.

You can get the belts by the inch. Just have them measure the belt and give youone that is 1 to 1 1/2 inches longer.
