Default help! front diff pinion bearing help

the pinion bearing is completly toasted in my front diff.
i have everything taken apart, the axle shafts and ring gear are out and the yolk is off.
is there somthing holding in the pinion gear or do i just have to beat it out with a hammer?
any suggestions?? i would love to have my 4wd back.

Nim:

I have never done it, but it reasons to say that if you have the pinion nut and yoke off, there should not be anything holding it back as long as the carrier is out. Possibly the outer bearing that sits behind the nut has welded itself to the pinion.

I would try putting a block of wood on the pinion and tapping with a good sized hammer. Make sure you put something over the housing to catch the pinion so it does not fall on the floor.
