Default No Floor Heat= Frozen Feet!

Our 2000 Durango won't divert any heat to the driver side or passenger side floor areas. All other heat and air conditioning settings seem to work fine.
I suspect a diverter gate is stuck, or not working at all.
Can anyone tell me where to start looking for the problem, or a manual way to switch the diverter?
Without blindly tearing into things I have no idea where to start troubleshooting.
Thank you for any push in the right direction.
Denny
PS. We just spent 2,000 bucks on driveline repairs for our Durango, we can't afford another trip to the shop.

milwiron,

I am having exactly the same problem on my 2000 R/T. I was hoping to see some expert advise posted in response to your post. Still hoping....
I have been to other auto and Dodge boards and haven't seen much of any help either. I guess there aren't any experts out there willing to share their experiences with us. From what I've been seeing this is becoming a frequent problem this season. I can't believe noone has a handle on this yet.

Wishing you luck,

Dave

Sounds like a mode door motor or possibly a mode door problem itself. I would suggest paying the 100.00 and let the dealer diagnose it, then decide if you want try and fix it yourself.

I have a similar problem except i have a 99 durango, and only the passenger side doesn't get heat. brrr. I don't have any ideas what it could be but, good luck. If you find out don't hesitate to share it with the rest of us.

It possibly has something to do with something coming loose... I say this because prior to my durango being in that parked car, squishing of an accident, my floor heat was fine... after the accident every setting works except the floor, I can hear it change something and the fan still runs but there is no air coming out below...

The accident slammed stuff around pretty good, knocked off my rear view mirror and even put my dash cover all the way to the rear seat...

I will be getting it fixed for sure under my insurance, within the next month. so I will update you guys on what the problem was...
