I was wondering if anyone has had or experienced a loud rattling noise coming from the 3rd row seats/rear hatch. I can't seem to find it and it sometimes drives me insane as I drive down the road. I thought maybe it was the 3rd row seat belt buckles smacking together but that wasn't it. I am wondering if it is coming from the rear hatch behind the interior panel. I have a 2000.

 

I'm not sure if 2000's have this, but in my 2001, there is a storage compartment built into the floor right inside the rear hatch. Inside of this and attached to the side along the rear of the truck is where the jack and tire iron are kept. My tire iron does not want to stay inside of the plastic clips, and once it comes out, it rattles like crazy.

Also, if 2nd row seats aren't latched back properly/firmly after being tumbled forward, they may rattle and/or squeak.

 

It's definitely not my second row, that is where my kids sit so I know they are latched. It is definitely coming from the 3rd row or farther back. I will check the jack though. Yes I have that same storage compartment back there too.

 

I have the same noise. but its the rear differential.. not inside the cab but it sure sounds liek its in the cab.. I thought it was the handle on the rear hatch for a long time..
