I've developed what appears to be a leak where the water pump mounts to the engine block. This is on a 2000 Durango with the 5.9L motor. It is bone stock with 85k on the odo. Is this a common problem for these cars? Do these cars have a history of the gaskets between the W/P and engine block leaking?
While we're on the topic of cooling systems, what about the stock radiators for these vehicles? I believe that the tanks are plastic and the cores are metal. Is there also a history of the plastic tanks eventually cracking or developing leaks at the interface between the tank and the metal core?

It might just be a seep hole in the water pump and they often make it look like the gasket. Either way just replace the pump. NEW ONLY!

Dude 85K on a water pump is pretty good. Although **** does happen, I would say you got your money's worth.

Well, as it turns out, I discovered after a closer look that it was the freeze plug on the front of the block (next to the W/P) that was leaking. Pulled it and installed a new one.
Also replaced the radiator with a new one. Cost was $140 from www.radiatorswarehouse.com. Very happy with the fit of the aftermarket rad.
