Default Noise in glove compartment- Durango 2000 SLT, 2WD

This has happened twice. My wife heard a popping noise in the glove compartment when she opened the door. She tried to start the Durango, but it would not turn over or even light up gauges. It appeared to be a dead battery. She tried to jump started, but this did not work. When I got their and check the fuses (something like this had happended years back when it was jump started).Nothing was wrong so I removed the negative cable from the battery (just thought I would try it) and reconnected to battery. It started right up.

Today she turned off the Durango at carpool and attempted to start Durango, but it would not. She opend the door and heard the same noise in glove box area. Disconnected/reconnected a battery cable and it started.

Any Ideas of my problem?

It's a dead battery. That noise is common on a dead one.

Have it tested or simply replaced.
