New here, with a problem. Can anybody help me?
Hi everybody. I'm new here.
I drive a 2000 Dodge Durange. 5.2 V8 Magnum.
Here is my problem. Please don't flame me too hard.
I bought the truck used in 2006. It had 98,000 miles on it. I bought it from a Dodge dealership, but I knew nothing of the previous owner and the kind of maintainence they did to it. So when I bought it I went through and changed all of the fluids, filters, etc. Well, I also went to change the PCV valve. I referrred to my Chilton manual for the procedure. Well, the picture is very misleading in the book. The PCV valve is located on the valve cover on the right side of the engine. The picture showed the LEFT side of the block. So I followed the instructions for removal of the valve and ended up breaking something that was turned out not to be the PCV Valve! Here are a couple of pictures:
Here is the PCV Valve ( I found it)

and here is the other valve cover where I broke what I thought was the PCV Valve.

From what I could tell it was just a breather as the hose returns to the air intake. For a temporary quick fix I got a hose that was the right diameter to fit the opening and joined it to the existing hose with a section of a funnel. Redneck, I know....
Does anybody know what the part is that I broke and where I could get a replacement and possibly how to properly install it?
Thanks for looking and any help will be greatly appreciated.
(let the flaming begin.......
