Default Model year 2000 ABS system?

The ABS system runs the pump even on clean dry pavement. Not sure if it is the brain malfunctioning or the pump. Asked about a replacement at the auto parts store yesterday and they show no listing for and or all of the system except the wheel sensors. Any one ever buy a new brain, pump or complete unit at a auto parts store?
Is it a dealer item only?

Do you mean to say the pump runs even when the brakes are not on, or just that the ABS comes on when the brakes are on in the dry.

If pump runs all the time, this is a somewhat common issue. Folks have talked of a place that will either rebuild yours, or swap you a rebuilt unit to get the car back on the road.

If it just comes on whenever brakes are applied, you most likely have a sensor issue as something is telling the computer that a wheel is "slipping."

ABS pump runs just when ever the brakes are applied. Even sitting still.
Doesn't appear to flash any code nor does the ABS light stay on.

I know the GM ABS brake system but not the Dodges.

Alley:

Hopefully those who have had this experience and remedied it will chime in. If the pump is running with brake applied even when stopped, that sounds like a pump control issue.

You might look on Ebay or do a search here for ABS pump issues and see what comes up. Also, try google search for Durango ABS pump issues.

I did a google search before coming here.
No luck finding some one with the same problem.
I guess I will have to just search each parts supplier for what they may stock.
I knew it was a pump issue. But is the brain causeing the problem and can I buy just a brain?
I guess I should just set down and call all the salvage yards in the area.
