Default EMISSIONS LIGHT

Emissions light on my 30 RT just came on last eve....getting frustrated as its starting to nickle and dime me. Is this an inherit problem with the Durango or is it just simple matter of changing plugs, O2 sensor, pcv. Or is it an indication of something more serious with in the emissions system......HELP

dont know about an emissions light, unless you mean the check engine light, in which case go to autozone and get them to read the codes for you, its free and then let us know what they are and we can help

p.s. you can also try the key dance trick to get codes

turn the key to on (not start) then off-on-off-on-off-on 3 times and leave it in the "on" position the third time you put it there and the odommeter will flash with the codes and say p done when it has displayed all of them

Ah, come on now. Don't be so hard on your trusty D. How many miles on her???The code could be lots of things including a bad gas cap. Pull the codes and get back with us.

My 01 just turned 69k, and so far no major issues to speak of except the factory leak from the gas tank (into the engine that is)

Okay.....after ranting and raving.....asked the wife if she did anything different, when driving the RT....Well got gas as a full service station...and well the gas cap was on crossthreaded. Put it on proper, disconnected the battery and what do you know....Light is off and has been all day...crossin the fingers thats all it was. LOVE the RT...gas mileage is brutal, but like the vehicle...Has anyone found a huge difference when putting a cold air intake and hypertech on, for both mileage and performance

Thanks again

Theres a difference, maybe not huge but its there to be noticed. Both the hypertech and CAI are great mods well worth the money. Pretty much any performance mod will help you with both HP and MPG. You just got to keep your foot off the pedal to get the mpg side....
