Default 99 Durango Transmission

I have a 1999 Dodge Durango and the check engine light is on and it seems to be very slugish when I try to take off. Took it to Advanced and they said the light was a manufacture trans code and they did not know what that meant. Took it to a trans shopand he said that it is trying to take off in 2nd gear and that it needs a new shift solenoid. Does that should logical and is a governor solenoid the same thing as a shift solenoid?

If the governor solenoid is the issue is their anything else that needs to be replace when this is done?

How hard is it to replace a governor solenoid and do you have any suggestions of where to find instuctions (it is not in our Haynes Manuel)?

Thanks for all your help.

Govenor or switch.

The problem is medal fragments are hanging the sensors up. If the trans shop does a really great flush on cooling and trans and also replace the switch it might hold you off. I hope it will be for a while.
