Default 5.2 to 4.7 ??

hi i have seen posts about going from a 4.7 to a 5.2 or 5.9. but was wondering about going from a 5.2 to a 4.7??? i have a 99 5.2l that blew up a month and a half after i bought it. dieing at 108,000 miles i was really pissed.warrenty didnt cover **** on it due to a gasket being the cause. anyway after i heard last night that gas is going up to $4.40 in the summer by my area. already needing a replacment i got a quote for $3200 for new 5.2l engine 3 yr unlimited mile. i started thinking if its possible to go to a 4.7l. like motor mounts same place? will trans bolt up? will computer read the same ?? diff wiring? radiator should be fine due to smaller block but not sure?? and the MAIN question i had for this brain fart. would the .5 L give me a major differance in gas millage?? this is my daily driver. put it this way in the first month 1/2 i put on 5,500 miles so you can say i drive alot. gas is a major factor for me. but i also want that power i need for wheeling on the weekend. or i should just give in and get a bike for when im not working. any info will help thanks

Don't know anything about the swap but I have the 4.7 on my 02 Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 (AWD option). I only get about 13/14 mpg max in town and maybe 18 highway. It would be a little better without AWD but probably not a huge difference.

If you wantbetter gas mileage, you should consider fixing your truck the easiest way (another 5.2)for your weekend wheelingand pick up a beater Civic/Corollatype car for the daily driving. Check sites like craigslist. You can ususally find a few carsfor cheap locally.

It is possible but there are many differences in the rig. This will cost a lot of $ probably about $6000. Not worth it!

Just replace the motor with a 5.2L.
