conversion?

Default conversion?

i need to know weather it is possible to convert my 4.7L durango to a 5.9L or if it has been done i had a 5.2L durango and i loved the power how ever i am not as impressed with the 4.7L thanks

What year is your D, and are you having problems with your 4.7??? Overall, it is quite a good engine. Not a powerhouse by any stretch, but since a Gen1 Durango runs about 4800 pounds moving it is a bit of a task to start with.

Were you to switch it to a 5.9, it would no doubt require different harnesses, computers, and sensors to make things work. Also, the older 52/5.9 motors came with the 44re/46re series of transmissons, while the 4.7/5.7 comes with the 45rfe/545rfe series.

Although it could be done, I think you would end up spending more than you wanted to get it done. Having a donor D with all of the factory 5.9 hardware would not doubt simplify the hardward end of things.

It has been completed. But the overall cost was out of this world.

It's just not worth it......[:'(]

it would be cheaper to swap to a 5.7 hemi since they bolt up to your tranny.
