99 starts itself-remote start issue?
This 99 durango slt starts by itself. Shuts off only by stepping on the brake. I do not know if it has a factory remote start in it or not as it is a friends and it is a ways away from me. I asked fo rthem to look for any aftermarket remote starts in the onvious places and nothing found. ECM/PCM was replaced for NO BUS error stall, but the unintentional starts occur still and seem to be gettign more frequent. Did dodge make a factory remote start for this truck? If so, and no there is no keyfob for it, how can it be defeated? Any help appreciated. Pictures of where to look? Thanks!
Look up under the dash area, you may have to remove some lower panels. Look for any wire taps, follow those wire taps to the box. I use to install these where I use to work. You can remove the box (If its aftermarket and they installed it correctly) and that will be the solution. If it IS afterarket, look around where all you ignition wires are and see if there is a tap there. If I was him, I would find out what brand it is and go get it reprogrammed and get a remote. Remote start feature is NICE to have! I hope this helps!
