Power Steering pressure switch available????
[&:]I really need some help here, please!
I have a 2000 Dodge Durango 4x4 with the 5.2L engine. My power steering pressure switch is leaking and needs replaced. THE PROBLEM: I called all my auto parts stores and was told it was a dealer item, call the dealer and the part is not in their system, searched the internet to find nothing, and goto all my local junk yards to find none. This part is on the P/S high pressure line next to the battery and seems to only come on the P/S systems that have a P/S cooler. If anyone can help me locate one, I would greatly appreciate it, as I am tired of seeing my check engine light on for this P0551 code. Thanks in advance for the help.

RE: Power Steering pressure switch available????

This switch probably is a dealer item, but there should still be plenty of them around. Did you give Auto Zone a try??
At any rate, this repair needs to be done sooner than later as the leaking fluid will wick into your wiring harness, and cause issues there as well as destroying the 02 sensors. Then, you will be replacing those at ~$80 a pop.

RE: Power Steering pressure switch available????
The only Power steering pressure switch listed in the 2000 durango's parts manual I have access tois for the 4.7 engine. It is part #56041335aa.
I took a peek at rockauto.com and they list the same..here is a pic of it for the 4.7 http://info.rockauto.com/SMP/SMPDetail3.html?PSS13.html. I am guessing a
mistake on dodge's part for not listing it in the parts manual.

Power Steering Switch / Fluid Leak
Thanks Bustabill - I think replcing this sensor/switch is solving my Power Steering Fluid leak in my 4.7L 2000 Dodge Durango. BTW - the Dodge dealer has revised the part number to 56041335AC. $30.74 at the local Dodge dealer. They had it in stock and say they sell a lot of them.
