Fuel Pump????
We have a 2003 Durango andI believe ithas a bad fuel pump. The wife drove yesterday on and off through out the day. No problems I have not noticed any problems at all lately. She went to try and start it today and it will not start. It cranks but will not start. It has plenty battery power. Ido not get a check engine light. No codes display, I tried the keything. Itried swapping relays. I check for fuel pressure and get nothing. I do not believe I can hear thefuel pump prime on. In my jeep it is very distinctive when the pump kicks on. But I neverpayed attention to the durango before. I put my ear right up to the tankand have my wife turn the key and I hear nothing. I do hear somthing similiar to a pump primmingin the engine bay though. What to you guys think? If it is the pump what is the level of difficulty in changing it myself. I have some mechanical skills (brakes, plugs, alternators etc. ) I have never tried to change a pump before. Sorry for the long post!

Before you get real serious, try a battery disconnect reset.I like to remove the negative battery terminal, then depress the brake pedal for a good 60 seconds or so. Then, reconnect and try to fire it up.
If this does not help, you are probably looking at a new pump. How many miles on the rig???
Doing the pump yourself should not be too bad, but hopefully the tank is not real full, and you have the means to get it up into the air a bit so you have room to work under it.

I appreciate the response n8ech. I tried everything I could read about on this forum. I broke down and had it towed to the repair shop. $500.00 later I have it back with a new pump. I hate paying for repairs, I just did not want to start throwing parts at it and not get it fixed. Its an 03 with 80,000 on it. I have already replaced the tensioner, altinator, and the blower motor. Its in excellent condition I just keep getting nickle and dimed by these stupid things.
