Default Rough idle, flatspot in accelerator.

I have a 98 durango, was great changed Air intake, wires. plugs, coil. drove it for 1000 miles then it started idling very rough and during acceleration there was a flat spot, engine will die if I leave it at that throttle position ( 3.5 volts at wide o), I changed the TPS, and the new one is still only 3.6 at W/o. I replaced the plentum plate and gasket, and intake gasket, all with no improvement. If I accelerate slowly I can take it up to 5000 rpm with out the flat spot. today I had the injectors cleaned, and I changed the fuel filter/ regulator, all with no improvement. I have checked the cam position sensor, crank position sensor, all ok, so now I left with very few alternatives. take it to the dealer and pay another 150 just t look at it. Is this a PCM, or ECM problem. I am lost and need help. thanks J.C.

what kind of plugs did you put into it???

a hint - if you put Bosch platinums into it they tend to cause problems in these trucks, take them out and replace them w/ champion copper plugs and chances are the problem will be fixed

Bronco:

On a rig that old, you could be looking at a vacuum leak also. Carefully look and check every piece of vacuum hose you can find. Possibly a hose that was on its way out finally went, or one that had to be moved for the recent work has popped loose from its connector.

In answer to both questions:
1. I used accel plugs, wires, coil, cap and rotor. I can pick up some champion plugs they are pretty cheap and it beats having to shellout 150 at the dealer if it works. if it doesent then i have a set of new plugs for my next tune-up

2. I have a vacume guage and when I hook it up while it is running I get all green. no real fluctuations. It acts like it is getting lean, that is why I focused so much on fuel. My fuel pressure remains between 48-52 when I am reving or idling.

I have the hat accel coil it might have upset the pcm, If I still had the old one I would swap it out and see if that helped.

make sure that the cap you used has brass contacts on it, they seem to work a lot better
