Default Power Windows Problems

I recently had my drivers side window freeze up (Cold weather and rain...) in an effort to get it to go down I heard a small pop. Proceeding with the window motor going down what sounded like a couple inches..

I pulled the door panel off and the window is still on the track but I can pull it up and down with my hands. The motor went all the down when I had the panel off now it won't go back up. At least before it held pressure on the window so it wouldn't fall down on it's own. Anyone know what's going on? I can flip the switch back and forth and it will move a couple times but just for a second then stop all together.

I didn't have any problems till it froze..

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thnaks!
Chad

Bummer man. I did the same thing with my window. Now for the really bad news. The pop you heard was a little white or yellow piece of plastic. You can't just get this little piece from the dealer either you must replace the entire motor, mount, and track system for the window. I believe it cost just a little more than a 100 from the dealer. The only good news I have for you is that it only takes 20 minutes or so to remove and install the new motor.

Do this yourself otherwise the dealer will charge you an arm and a leg for the repair. Also have a drill handly as the new part doesn't use all the same holes the broken mount used.

Thanks for the info... I haven't gone any farther than pulling the panel off. Anybody have an FSM they could scan and send me the pages for removing and reinstalling this? My e-mail is chadking{nospam}@cinci.rr.com (take out the no spam part.)

Thanks!

Hi, Just did the same thing, and it cost me $64 dilevered from ebay. I just did a "Durango window" search and there were a couple of them available. Robust 57 is totally correct about having the drill handy, but it is an easy fix, just a shame the whole assembly needs to be replaced.
