Default dead battery/clicking glove box

I had the same problem. And was getting pretty mad then I decided to take off the battery terminals andrive saw that they were really dirty. I took and fine cut file and clean them. Then the clicking went away and it started right up

Welcome samcheeze, by the way you are responding to a long dead thread. Might want to look at the date in the upper left side of the post you are replying to.

Oh well, regardless that information will help someone in the future.
Well the thread is now 10+ years old, but is still relevant because it just happed to me and my '98 Dakota, which is still running fine w/ 365K; just heard the clock-like ticking noise this morning as I was driving to work.

Hi needmoremoney, I know this is a really old post, but I have the same exact issue on my 98 Dakota (click-click-click behind glove box, etc.). Was it your alternator that needed replacing or something else? A quick test of my alternator showed that it's good. Thanks very much!
